[ag-automation] [ANNOUNCE] Call for Participation for OSADL Fieldbus Framework

Dear members,

Although public discussions about fieldbus framework related issues have
slowed down recently, activities are constantly going on here at
Pengutronix as part of our commercial customer projects. Having talked
to several OSADL members during the last weeks, I suppose it's the right
time to speed up the pace of the development. Discussions have shown that
almost *everybody* could make use of the fieldbus framework, as everyone
has the need to adapt physical signals to software in a generic and
platform/application independent way. And the technological concept I've
presented at the conference in Linz last year (which came out of the
OSADL Automation Workgropup activities) turns out to be the right
direction.

In order to gain momentum, I think it is necessary to bring significant
critical mass behind this project. Recently, the OSADL Supervisory Board
has agreed that "mixed founded projects" will be made possible under the
leadership of OSADL; we see this as a viable model for the framework.

To coordinate the activities, here is a short poll which will give us an
impression about who is interested in the fieldbus framework project:

[ ] yes, I am / my company is interested in the fieldbus framework
[ ] no, I am / we are not interested

If yes:

[ ] our company might want to participate in a mixed founded project
[ ] our company might want to be part of the development team
[ ] we are interested in integration of the following fieldbusses
    or other I/O sources: ___________________________________
